The goal of this work was to characterize the functional status of monoaminergic systems in the hippocampus, the hypothalamus and the striatum in the metabolic stress (the model of a single introduction of LPS at a dose of 1mg/kg body weight) and the psychogenic stress (the model of an empathy of the death of a kinsman from the actions of a predator). Using high performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection (HPLC-ED) found that the dopamine level decreased and it's metabolism was a constant in the hippocampus of rats after the metabolic stress and the psychogenic stress. The dopamine level had recovered for the 50th day after the stressedout. The dopamine level did not change and the homovanilic acid level increased in the hypothalamus after the metabolic stress and the psychogenic stress. The 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid level in the hypothalamus increased after the metabolic stress, and it decreased after the psychogenic stress. The 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid and the homovanilic acid levels had recovered for the 50th day after the stressedout. The dopamine level in the striatum after the metabolic stress was higher than after the psychogenic stress, because the speed of catabolism after the metabolic stress was slower than after the psychogenic stress.
