В данной работе рассматривается федеративное устройство России, какие практические и теоретические проблемы возникали в ходе становления российского государства. Федерация как форма государственного устройства - представляет собой сложное, составное, состоящее из нескольких государств или государственно подобных образований, обладающими признаками государственности, суверенное государство, власть которого исходит от отдельных его членов, связанных в одно государственное целое. В ходе работы была рассмотрена история создания федеративного государства в России. Раскрыты конституционные принципы федеративного устройства Российской Федерации. Рассмотрены коллизии между центральными органами государственной власти и органами государственной власти на местах. И ко всему прочему рассмотрены ряд проблем и споров, существующих по поводу федеративного устройства России на различных исторических этапах. Необходимо отметить, что федерализм выступает как единственно возможная форма демократического управления столь обширным государством. Можно сделать выводы, что особенностью России на ее нынешнем этапе развития является то, что федерализм переживает переходный период, обретая демократические формы в сложных экономических и политических условиях, и прежде всего обострения этнических отношений. Также в работе дано определение и признаки федерации, как формы государственного устройства. В зависимости от понимания федерации как формы государства и формируется представление о самом государстве и назначении его в обществе в целом.
