Целью дипломного проекта являлось исследование различных значений, которыми обладают горы и анализ их роли в произведении американского писателя Джека Керуака «Бродяги Дхармы». Методы исследования: литературные работы на тему образов и символов, биографические труды о Керуаке и поколении битников, а также анализ образа горы в книге «Бродяги Дхармы». В ходе проведенного исследования были выявлены символические значения образа горы в различных литературных текстах, а также проанализирована его авторская интерпретация в романе «Бродяги Дхармы» в контексте буддистского мировоззрения.

Theme of the graduation paper: «Mythopoetic image of mountain in Jack Kerouac's novel “The Dharma Bums». Object of the study: the interpretation of the mythopoetic image of mountain in «The Dharma Bums». The aim of the study was to make an analysis and to decode the mythopoetic image of mountain, including Jack Kerouac's novel. Research methods: philological works on images and symbols, biographic works about Jack Kerouac and «the beat generation», the mythopoetic analysis of the image of mountain in «The Dharma Bums». The result of the research is a defined meaning of the image of mountain in variety of literary texts and analyzed author's interpretation of mountain in the novel «The Dharma Bums» in the context of Buddhist ideology.
