The given work is devoted to optimization of the one of fully automatic medical image segmentation algorithms using CUDA. The developed parallel algorithm based on the model-based segmentation algorithm is presented in this work. The developed algorithm has been implemented on the modern NVIDIA graphics processing unit. According to the analysis that has been made, the developed algorithm shows performance increase in average of the factor of 1.3 in comparing with analogs without loss in segmentation quality. Besides semi-automatic algorithm used for adjustment of segmentation polygonal model has been developed. The key feature of the proposed algorithm consists in the developed mass-spring model that uses two-dimensional pixel-wise segmentation mask of the slice taken from the segmented three-dimensional image. Basing on the displacements calculated on the segmented pixels, the deformation of the entire polygonal mesh is performed.
