In this work, a comparative analysis of innovative automatic overheating detection systems is performed in comparison with the traditional methods of technical diagnostics of contact connections of mid-voltage class. The urgency of the problem of monitoring the technical condition of electrical installations is substantiated and the advantages of automated systems compared to traditional thermal imaging control are identified. A prototype of a mobile test bench has been developed, which is based on a gas analytical system for automatically detecting overheating. The automatic overheats detection system based on the gas analytical method was tested for applicability in complete switchgear, prepared rules for the installation of elements of the gas analytical system. The idea of the behavior of the composite material used in the gas analytical system in the electric field is formed, based on theoretical data on dielectric materials. A feasibility study has been prepared on the application of the system as an example of implementation in a large electric grid company.
