This work is devoted to the study of the stress-strain state of a coating using carbon fiber as a material for load-bearing elements in order to reduce the load from its own weight. In the course of the work, a calculation model of the coating from structural core systems was created, and the optimal design shape was obtained by the topology optimization. Using the Ansys ACP software package, structural elements from a polymer composite were created, which partially replaced the steel elements in the original circuit. In the composite elements, the optimal number and orientation of the layers of the fiber composite polymer were determined considering the stress-strain state of the initial metal structure. The work is aimed at studying the methodology for using composite structures in metal frames in computational models of the finite element method (FEM). Based on the studies, it was found that the use of a composite material based on carbon fiber instead of steel with equal structural deformations leads to an increase in the cross-sectional area of the element, but significantly reduces the dead weight of the element.
