A detailed picture of the gas flow and temperature distribution in the rotor winding of a turbogenerator with self-ventilation from a sub-slot ducts are studied by means of mathematical simulation. On this basis, the possibilities of directed affecting on the geometry of the sub-slot duct to minimize the temperature differences of copper conductors within the slotted area of the winding are discussed. The calculated data are compared with the ventilation experiment on the rotating physical model of a rotor and with the results of full-scale heat test of existing air-and hydrogen-cooled turbo generators.
