In this work, the scintillation characteristics of multicomponent aluminium garnet ceramics doped with cerium were investigated. The reasons for the decrease in the luminescence intensity of cerium ions upon significant heating above room temperature (temperature quenching) or strong cooling below room temperature (negative temperature quenching) were considered. For high-temperature quenching, the activation energy values were calculated. The compositions of ceramics of aluminium garnets with a temperature stability acceptable for use in modern computer and positron emission tomographs have been determined. The presence of a continuous distribution of the depths of charge carrier traps was shown. The possibility of predicting the shape of the afterglow curves on the basis of thermally stimulated luminescence measurements is demonstrated.
