The topic of the final qualifying work: "An empirical mathematical model of the change in the area of actual contact of metals depending on the friction path". This work is devoted to the selection and verification of an empirical mathematical model of the change in the actual contact area of metals depending on the friction path. Tasks that were solved during the study: 1) Select the components of physical models to estimate the change in the area of actual contact of metals depending on the friction path. 2) Select mathematical models to describe the change in the area of actual contact of metals depending on the friction path. 3) Implement the digitization of experimental data of Professor Demkin N. B. and analyze them using selected mathematical models to verify the data of empirical models. The work was carried out on the basis of the BaltTribo-Polytechnic Research Center. Within the framework of this work, experimental data of Professor Demkin N. B. were analyzed. Test conditions: sliding of triangular pyramids of metals on a steel plane at a speed of 0.1 mm/s, at a normal load of 3H. The samples are indentors in the form of triangular pyramids made of aluminum, copper, art.3 and plates made of steel 12X1. As a result of the conducted research: 1) The choice of components of physical models is made to estimate the change in the area of actual contact of metals depending on the friction trajectory. 2) A mathematical model was chosen to describe the change in the actual contact area of metals depending on the friction trajectory. 3) The experimental data of Professor Demkin N. B. were digitized and analyzed using the selected mathematical model to verify this empirical model.
