The effect of fluid compressibility in a two-stage piston hybrid power machine with a liquid piston is considered. Based on the volume conservation equation, a method has been developed for calculating the compressibility of a liquid during gas compression in the second stage of the compressor section of a two-stage piston hybrid energy machine, taking into account the effect of gas forces, inertia forces and friction forces on the liquid. As a result of a numerical analysis, it was found that the relative compressibility of the liquid during compression is within 1%, and the relative decrease in speed is within 5%. In addition, it was also found that the greatest influence on the compressibility of a fluid is exerted by the degree of pressure increase in the stage and the length of the pipeline, then the polytropic index and the lowest number of revolutions of the crankshaft. The compressibility of the liquid makes it possible to bring the gas compression process closer to thermodynamically advantageous, but it can lead to a decrease in compressor performance.
