In the article, within the framework of the structural-energy interpretation of the evolution of the friction process, a two-stage model of adaptation of rubbing surfaces (friction contact) is considered. With the most complete evolution of the contact, its minimal properties are achieved – abnormally low friction and the highest wear resistance. In this case, the friction contact consists of the smallest structural elements (grains) – mechanical (nano) quanta, which in their combined, oscillating behavior provide the effects of structural superplasticity and superfluidity.
