The aim of the work is to create a digital twin, and in particular, a variant of the frame of a low-floor city bus. The paper outlines the essence of the design approach using SolidWorks and ANSYS Workbench systems. The analysis of existing designs and necessary requirements is performed. The technology of 3D modeling in the SOLIDWORKS environment is studied. Using a typical low-floor passenger bus as an example, a model of the frame with the use of beam elements is developed. Using Finite Element Method (FEM), static calculation of the original model was performed, and the geometry was augmented with solid elements to specify the results. To compare the results, the design was also augmented with a simplified dependent suspension model. Based on the results of topological optimization, which considered the different conditions of the static calculations, the geometry was subjected to minor changes in the lower and lateral parts of the structure. In the final part, a static calculation of the modified model was performed, which showed the absence of stresses exceeding the limit. Finally, the future phase of the numerical rollover test and fatigue failure calculations were summarized.
