In this paper, the possibility of implementing a thermal desalination complex based on a low-power thermal power plant on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula is investigated. The energy system of the region is studied, the problems of energy deficit are considered, as well as plans and options for the development of the region's energy, both with the help of traditional energy sources and alternative (renewable) ones. Special attention is also paid to the shortage of fresh water in the region. The main methods of desalination of sea water are shown. The problem of seasonal shortage of fresh water in the city of Yalta is considered. A simulation of an energy desalination complex based on the equipment of the Tutaevskaya CHP was carried out. The selection of the desalination part was made. The methodology for calculating the desalination plant and analyzing the economic indicators of the enterprise based on the DEEP program developed by the IAEA was presented and studied. The calculation of the technical and economic indicators of the given energy desalination complex was carried out.
