This work is devoted to the study of the possibility of obtaining a stable isotope of ruthenium-100 by irradiation of the fission product of technetium-99 nuclear fuel: 1.Studying the features of the technetium-99 material. 2.Determination of the version of the reactor plant to determine the maximum yield of ruthenium. 3.Validation of the ruthenium production model. 4.Determining the variant of the new target geometry 5.Modeling and optimization of operating time. The work was carried out based on JSC "V.G. Khlopin Radium Institute", where a significant part of the actual material was collected: the spectrum of the neutron flux of the SM-3 reactor, the Serpent nuclear physics modeling software, libraries of nuclear cross sections of materials used in the work. Validation calculations were carried out that clearly show the kinetics of technetium transmutation and ruthenium formation, thanks to which further studies were carried out to optimize the shape of the target and determine the maximum percentage of ruthenium production.
