В данной работе рассматриваются особенности функционирования сложных прилагательных с компонентами «cold», «warm», «cool» и «hot» в английском языке и виды их перевода. Цель исследования заключается в том, чтобы выявить функциональные особенности английских сложных прилагательных с компонентами «cold», «warm», «cool» и «hot» в контексте и осуществить их перевод на русский язык путем подбора и использования соответствующих лексико-грамматических трансформаций. Предметом исследования выступают функционально-стилистические характеристики сложных прилагательных с компонентами «cold», «warm», «cool» и «hot» и способы передачи таких сложных прилагательных при переводе на русский язык. Методика исследования представляет собой совокупность таких методов, как логико-интуитивный анализ, индукция, дедукция, синтез, классификация, структурный и описательный методы, а также функционально-стилистический анализ. Благодаря исследованию, проведенному в данной работе, удалось прийти к следующим выводам в отношении функционирования и перевода сложных прилагательных с компонентами «cold», «warm», «cool» и «hot»: их использование обусловлено желанием автора кратко и эффективно информировать читателя, сохраняя при этом его эмоциональную вовлеченность; методы перевода включают в себя различные лексико-грамматические трансформации, а выбор эквивалента часто зависит от контекста. Результаты исследования могут быть применены в процессе перевода публицистических текстов с английского на русский язык и в учебных целях для студентов переводческих специальностей.
This paper examines specific features of the functioning of complex adjectives with the components “cold”, “warm”, “cool” and “hot” in English and the types of their translation. The purpose of the study is to identify the functional features of English compound adjectives with the components “cold”, “warm”, “cool” and “hot” in the context and translate them into Russian by selecting and using appropriate lexical and grammatical transformations. The subject of the study is the functional and stylistic characteristics of complex adjectives with the components “cold”, “warm”, “cool” and “hot” and methods of translating such complex adjectives into Russian. The research methodology is a set of methods such as logical-intuitive analysis, induction, deduction, synthesis, classification, structural and descriptive methods, as well as functional-stylistic analysis. Through the research carried out in this work, it was concluded regarding the functioning and translating of complex adjectives with the components “cold”, “warm”, “cool” and “hot” that their use is due to the author’s desire to briefly and effectively inform the reader, while maintaining his or her emotional involvement, translation techniques include various lexical and grammatical transformations, and the choice of equivalent often depends on the context. The results of the study can be applied in the process of translating journalistic texts from English into Russian and for educational purposes for students of translation field.
