The given work is devoted to the analysis of rotor stability of small-size gas turbine engines using the finite element method based on theoretical concepts of such mechanics section as rotor dynamics. The finite element method is a powerful tool for numerical solutions of complex problems of mechanics, including rotor dynamics problems. As a result the stiffness acting on the rotor from the support and bearings was calculated and the frequency characteristics of the rotating system, such as vibration shapes and critical frequencies were obtained with the help of Campbell diagram. The modal stability of the performance in the operating frequency region is evaluated using logarithmic decrement. This work is a demonstration of rotor stability calculation, which is one of the most important parameters in motor development. The results of this work can be used for the design and operation of small-size gas turbine engines with a high degree of reliability and efficiency.
