The given work is devoted to studying similarities and differences between the main characteristics of modern only child in Chinese families and the features of "little emperors". This is the name given to some children who grew up without siblings, who are distinguished by late adulthood and a tendency to selfishness, due to the fact that they are the only treasure in the family. The study examined the historical foundations of the birth control policy in China, studied and compared the stages of birth control and the consequences of each of them, analyzed the features of the changes that came to Chinese society after the appearance of the phenomenon of the "little emperor", and compared the portraits of the "little emperor" and the only child in a Chinese family. The work was carried out on the basis of a review of domestic and foreign literature, regulatory documents and reports of the Russian Federation and the Peoples Republic of China. The methods of analysis, synthesis, comparison and questionnaire were used. As a result of the study, similarities and differences between the characteristics of the only child in Chinese families and the traits of the "little emperors" were established. Representatives of both groups support the late creation of a family, wanting to focus more on personal and professional development, but their personal qualities and character differ.
