The aim of the research is to design a set of exercises for the development of sociolinguistic competence among undergraduates majoring in Tourism using the case study method. The research set the following goals: 1. To define the concept of “sociolinguistic competence” for undergraduates majoring in Tourism. 2. To study the conditions for the development of sociolinguistic competence in foreign language classes.  3. To clarify the methodological aspects of the implementation of the case study method aimed at sociolinguistic competence enhancement. 4. To develop and test a set of exercises developed for the enhancement of sociolinguistic competence among students majoring in Tourism. 5. To analyze the effectiveness of the set of exercises developed for the enhancement of sociolinguistic competence among students majoring in Tourism. The relevance of the problem is due to the need to prepare future specialists in the field of tourism for real situations of intercultural interaction in both everyday and professional spheres of communication. Firstly, the development of foreign language communicative competence is enshrined in the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education in a foreign language and is one of the mandatory requirements for the professional training of future specialists. Therefore, it is necessary to pay special attention to its components, namely linguistic, sociolinguistic and pragmatic competencies.  Secondly, tourism is currently the most promising area of service provision. The development of international tourism has a huge impact on such areas of the economy as trade, industry, transport, agriculture and many others. Therefore, in order to carry out intercultural communication in a foreign language most effectively, it is necessary to have a set of linguistic and cultural knowledge, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge appropriately depending on the context. Thirdly, a future specialist in the field of tourism needs to have sociolinguistic knowledge, skills and abilities, namely, to know the cultural characteristics, traditions and customs of a particular country, to choose the style of verbal and non-verbal interaction depending on the communicative situation. So, well-chosen interactive methods of situational analysis (case-study method), and in particular socio-cultural cases, will help in solving this task. It is the cases that simulate real situations of intercultural communication, allow to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, organize group work of students, develop critical thinking skills, as well as teach future specialists how to interact with representatives of other linguistic cultures. The data for the research were collected in domestic and foreign scientific research literature and official Internet resources. The study resulted in the development of a set of exercises for the enhancement of sociolinguistic competence among students majoring in Management using the case-study method.
