The aim of the research is to develop and test in practice a methodology of teaching analytical reading of English authentic media texts to BA students specializing in Linguistics with the use of digital tools. The research set the following goals: 1) to study linguistic features of media texts and media discourse; 2) to explore linguodidactic potential of English authentic media texts; 3) to consider methodological characteristics of analytical reading of English authentic media texts as a component of analytical and interpretive competencies; 4) to explore the didactic potential of utilizing digital tools in teaching analytical reading of English authentic media texts; 5) to design the content of teaching analytical reading of authentic media texts using digital tools; 6) to carry out the selection of linguistic material for teaching analytical reading of English authentic media texts with the use of digital tools; 7) to develop a set of activities and tasks aimed at developing analytical reading skills; 8) to experimentally validate the methodology of teaching analytical reading of English authentic media texts to BA students specializing in Linguistics with the use of digital tools. The relevance of the problem of the topic is ensured by several factors: • the lack of a holistic scientifically based concept of teaching analytical reading; • the need for qualified specialists in the field of Linguistics who are able to critically evaluate the information presented in media texts, identify bias and inaccuracies, and make informed decisions; • the insufficient level of analytical and interpretive proficiency among students majoring in linguistics; • the need for theoretical and practical developments on the use of digital tools as educational resources for developing analytical reading skills to BA students. The sources of information were data from domestic and foreign scientific research literature, official Internet resources and analytical agencies. The study resulted in set of activities and tasks with use of digital tools aimed at developing analytical reading skills of authentic mediatexts.
