The aim of the research is to develop and test in practice a methodology of phraseological units’ acquisition for students majoring in Economics on the basis of the micro-learning technique. The research set the following goals: 1. to define foreign language professional communication as a methodological category; 2. to consider economic discourse as an institutional category; 3. to investigate the phraseological layer of English language economic discourse; 4. to consider micro-learning as a technique of phraseological units’ acquisition for students majoring in Economics on the basis of the micro-learning technique; 5. to develop the content of phraseological units’ acquisition for students majoring in Economics on the basis of the micro-learning technique; 6. to carry out the selection of linguistic material for phraseological units’ acquisition for students majoring in Economics on the basis of the micro-learning technique; 7. to create a set of activities and tasks for phraseological units’ acquisition for students majoring in Economics on the basis of the micro-learning technique; 8. to experimentally validate the methodology of phraseological units’ acquisition for students majoring in Economics on the basis of the micro-learning technique. The relevance of the problem is evident in the lack of a theoretically supported and experimentally validated set of activities for phraseological units’ acquisition for students majoring in Economics on the basis of the micro-learning technique. The devised set of activities can be utilized to foster phraseological units’ acquisition among students in other non-linguistic fields. The data for the research were collected on the premises of SPbPU, which included collection of factual materials, i.e. the results of the pre-pilot test of students of the 1st year of master’s studies in Economics (38.04.01). The study resulted in development of the methodology of phraseological units’ acquisition for students majoring in Economics on the basis of the micro-learning technique.
