Pre-stressed concrete are widely used in buildings and civil structures where its improved concrete performance will allow for longer spans, reduced structural thickness and materials savings to be realised compared to reinforced concrete. The main aim of this work is to evaluate the efficiency of prestressed slab systems in high-rise buildings using fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) materials. This research involves two phases; In phase 1, a 55-story building was modeled with both reinforced concrete slabs and prestressed slabs in Etabs software. A comparative examination was then conducted to assess the efficiency of the prestressed slab system. In phase 2, to showcase potential improvements to prestressed slabs, a model incorporating prestressed slab wrapped with Carbon Fiber Reinfroced Polymers material (CFRP) was developed using Abaqus software. A thorough analysis was conducted to compare the performance of this composite slab with conventional prestressed slab, providing detailed insights into the structural behavior of prestressed slabs wrapped with CFRP. The results of the research offer significant understanding regarding the design and structural assessment of prestressed slabs integrated with FRP for tall buildings. This contributes to advancing sustainable and effective construction methodologies within the industry.
