The study focuses on improving the thermal resistance of external walls in enclosed buildings to enhance indoor air climate comfort which it will be cause of reducing energy consumption for air-conditioning. It specifically characterizes existing external load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls analyzing the thermo-physical properties of the materials used in Kurdistan region. Emphasizing the importance of thermal insulation in external walls, the research explores its impact on reducing heat transfer through the building envelope. Efficient insulation is highlighted for ensuring comfortable indoor conditions and achieving energy savings. The study concludes by discussing external wall insulation as a method to increase the thermal efficiency of building by adding an insulation layer to the exterior walls and increasing thickness of walls. significance and potential implications of the results are defining thickness of walls and thickness of insulation layer (Rock wool) for each type of materials. Finally, classifying the type of masonry walls in the term of thermal resistance and forecasted indoor temperature with a desired comfort level is the main target.
