The aim of the research is to substantiate and evaluate the effectiveness of using authentic audio and video materials in teaching English speaking skills to students majoring in Economics. The research set the following goals: – To analyze the theoretical foundations of oral speech and its role in foreign language acquisition; – To examine the psychological and pedagogical rationale for the use of authentic materials in language education; – To design a set of practical tasks based on authentic audio and video resources aimed at developing speaking skills; – To conduct a teaching experiment comparing traditional textbook materials with authentic audiovisual content in teaching speaking. The relevance of the problem lies in the need to bridge the gap between classroom-based English instruction and real-world professional communication in Economics. The data for the research were collected through theoretical analysis, classroom-based instruction, observation, and assessment of students oral performance. The study resulted in the confirmation that integrating authentic materials into the ESP curriculum significantly enhances oral communicative competence among students majoring in Economics.
