The subject of the graduate qualification work is ««a methodological system (a typology of exercises and principles for selecting texts) for developing reading skills and abilities based on A.S. Pushkin’s “The Tales of the Late Ivan Petrovich Belkin” for international linguistics students at levels B1–B2». This work is mainly devoted to studying the possibilities of using A.S. Pushkin’s literary texts (exemplified by the cycle “The Tales of the Late Ivan Petrovich Belkin”) in the process of teaching reading to international linguistics students at the advanced stage (levels B1–B2). The linguocultural and didactic potential of Pushkin’s prose is revealed, as well as the specifics of its application in a professionally oriented classroom. As a result of the conducted research, the main difficulties that international linguistics students encounter when reading “The Belkin Tales” were identified and systematized. Within the framework of the analysis, the characteristic features of A.S. Pushkin’s language and style, and their correspondence to levels B1–B2, were examined. Furthermore, the study assessed the possibilities and methods of working with literary texts in the process of forming and developing reading, linguistic, and linguocultural competences among linguistics students enrolled in Russian as a foreign language (RFL) courses. In the research, special attention was paid to the practical aspects of integrating “The Belkin Tales” into the educational process. As a result, specific methodological recommendations were formulated and tested, presented in the form of a three-level typology of exercises aimed at optimizing work with literary texts. This typology includes tasks for all types of reading, as well as exercises with elements of linguistic analysis. The developed recommendations contribute to a more conscious perception of Pushkin’s text by linguistics students, improve the quality of teaching, expand intercultural dialogue, and develop students’ skills of philological analysis in the context of Russian classical literature.
