The research examines the importance of English language lexical skills development in the settings of a non-linguistic university. Especially, the study takes into consideration the role of the lexical group of phrasal verbs, which is essential to acquire for both production and reception in such fields as daily life, business, and academic speech. Thus, the theory of teaching phrasal verbs and developing lexical skills was studied in order to develop and substantiate a set of vocabulary exercises for developing lexical skills using digital resources. Digital resources are considered to be an integral part of the modern educational process. Therefore, conducting a comparative analysis of digital resources showed advantages, disadvantages, and possibilities of using them. Several educational resources can support the learning process. They are Holst, Simple Class, Knowt and Diaclass.ru. Qualitative analysis showed that the developed set of exercises positively influenced students’ attitude towards learning phrasal verbs. Overall, they expressed satisfaction with the assignments developed with the digital resources (71%). In addition, students mentioned that they feel more confident in using phrasal verbs in their own sentences (78%). Quantitative analysis showed that during the pre-test the level of the general knowledge and use of phrasal verbs of B1-B1+ level was about 41% among the group. However, the post-test result of 72% among the group proved that the use of the set of digital exercises can improve students’ knowledge and use of phrasal verbs.
