В данной работе рассматриваются проблема развития англоязычной аргументированной речи студентов неязыковых ВУЗов в процессе обучения иностранному языку, а также возможности использования метода дебатов как эффективного интерактивного средства обучения. Благодаря опросам и эксперименту, описанным в данной работе, удалось выяснить, что применение метода дебатов способствует развитию у студентов умений формулировать аргументы, работать в команде и осознавать собственные языковые трудности. Было выяснено, что внедрение метода дебатов в образовательный процесс может быть действенным способом развития аргументированной речи и метапредметных компетенций, однако недостаточный словарный запас является основным фактором, ограничивающим эффективность данного метода. Результаты исследования могут использоваться в практике преподавания английского языка в неязыковых вузах. В процессе выполнения выпускной квалификационной работы использовались следующие информационные технологии: текстовые редакторы (Microsoft Word, Google Docs), программы для работы с электронными таблицами (Microsoft Excel), облачные сервисы (Google Drive), научные базы данных (Cyberleninka, Consensus).

The present study addresses the problem of developing English argumentative speaking skills of students in non-linguistic universitites in the process of foreign language learning, as well as the potential of the debate method as an effective interactive teaching tool. Based on surveys and an experiment described in this study, it was found that the use of the debate method contributes to the development of students’ ability to formulate arguments, collaborate effectively in groups and become aware of their own language difficulties. The findings indicate that the integration of the debate method into the educational process can be an effective way to develop students’ argumentative skills and cross-curricular competencies; however, insufficient vocabulary was identified as the main factor limiting the effectiveness of the method. The results of the study may be applied in English language teaching practice at non-linguistic higher education institutions. Following information technologies were used in preparation of the graduation thesis: text editors (Microsoft Word, Google Docs), spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel), cloud services (Google Drive), and academic databases (Cyberleninka, Consensus).
