Against the background of the national "dual-carbon" strategy and the steady advancement of ecological civilization construction, Gansu Province, as the core region of the northwest ecological barrier, is rich in ecological resources, but faces the predicament of lagging behind in economic development, and the development of green finance has become the key to break the situation. This study comprehensively utilizes institutional analysis and case study methodology to explore the internal mechanism and practical path of green finance to help ecological economic development. The study finds that Gansu Province has initially constructed a financial support structure with green credit as the main component and international cooperation as the supplementary component. However, it cannot be ignored that its development still faces many institutional barriers. The financing body has a single structure, certification standards are missing, and regulatory synergy is insufficient. Tracing back to the roots, these problems arise from the imperfect realization mechanism of ecological product value. To this end, this paper proposes a series of targeted strategies. In the financing system, actively innovate green financial products, fully stimulate the vitality of social capital with the help of policy tools, and at the same time, strengthen the cooperation between industry, academia and research, and cultivate professionals to break the status quo of a single financing body. At the level of market standardization, we should refine the classification of green projects, establish a third-party certification mechanism, and trace the flow of funds with the help of emerging technologies. In the field of regulatory synergy, environmental, social and governance factors are incorporated into the risk management system, an information sharing platform is built, and a cost-sharing mechanism is established to enhance the efficiency of capital utilization, thus promoting green finance to comprehensively empower the development of ecological economy in Gansu.
