This study address to comparing the performance of induction motor (IM) and permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with different control algorithm. Those method include scalar control (V-F control), field-oriented control (FOC), and field-oriented control with space vector modulus (FOC-SVM). The study of elevator drive with load capacity 1000kg, the results based on simulation in MATLAB/Simulink to compare the operation process of both motors with control method above after mathematic calculation. The study identifies of performance dynamic character, electromatic torque, stator current, speed response, rise time, and braking system. The results show significantly of five-phase PMSM obtained high speed performance that nearly zero steady-state error, fast stabilization due to the motor operation without rotor slip. And best dynamic performance and smooth operation during movement.
